Xfiber is renamed GlobalConnect

Press release

2023-11-21

(Fornebu, 21/11/2023) Broadband provider Xfiber changes name and becomes fully integrated with GlobalConnect. The change comes into force on 2 January 2024.

GlobalConnect is one of the Nordic region’s leading suppliers of broadband services, and in 2016 acquired the Stavanger-based fiber company Xfiber. Since the company was established in 1995, Xfiber has distinguished itself as a challenger within high-end datacom, and built up a strong position in the corporate market. From 2 January 2024, the company will be fully integrated with GlobalConnect, and at the same time change its name.

Xfiber’s services include broadband services for individual companies as well as more complex network solutions for larger companies and system integrators, both in Norway and the rest of Scandinavia.

– In recent years, GlobalConnect has been through an exciting journey with mergers and has taken a position as a leading pan-Nordic company in digital infrastructure. Xfiber has been in the GlobalConnect family for seven years, so it is natural that the company is now integrated and continues its work towards further growth under the same name, says Martin Lippert, CEO of GlobalConnect.

Greater range of services for customers

No organizational changes are planned as a result of the name change, and Xfiber’s employees will continue to work at Forus in Stavanger. Xfiber’s customers will keep their agreements as they are today, and the change does not involve any operational interruptions. As a fully integrated part of GlobalConnect, customers will eventually gain access to a greater range of services.

– At Xfiber, we have always worked to further develop and improve both the individual employee and the company as a whole. For almost 30 years, we have utilized new technology to make the customer’s solutions even better, and now we will continue to do so under a new name, says Tore Garborg, managing director of Xfiber.

All Xfiber’s customers have been informed of the change.
